  • Cat & Kitten Microchipping Services | Boundary Vets

If your cat was ever to become lost whilst exploring or be involved in an accident – cat microchipping can help to reunite you both.

The microchip is easily inserted under the skin of the scruff of the neck, just like an injection. It is approximately the size of a large grain of rice. It is a permanent ID system, that stays with your cat throughout its lifetime.

Microchipping for cats

Each chip has a unique number to which yours and your cats’ details are associated. These details are then stored on a national database. Dont worry if you are not sure if your cat already has a microchip, you may not be able to recall or know, one of our team at Boundary Vets can check this for you. We would use a scanner , and would always check for an existing microchip before implanting another. Sedation is not necessary for the implantation of the microchip, it causes minimal discomfort as the microchip is so small.

If whilst lost your cat was to be taken to a veterinary practice or an animal charity centre etc the staff would use a special scanner to read your cats chip, locate your details and happily reunite you both! It is important to keep your details updated and should anything change like your address or telephone number be sure to let us know. All of our microchips comply with the international standard (ISO) and can be recognised even abroad.
