Pet owners and animal lovers will get a rare chance to glimpse behind the scenes of one of Oxfordshire’s leading vet practices during an open day next week.
Boundary Vets, in Abingdon, will hold an open event from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday 23 April 2023, with activities available throughout the afternoon for both children and adults.
Charities, including the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, Pet Blood Bank UK and Cats Protection, will all be attending the event, while there will also be an information station explaining all about Boundary’s silver cat-friendly clinic status from the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM).
Meanwhile, young visitors to the practice will have the chance to ‘dress as a vet’ in one of the practice’s consulting rooms, using the opportunity to look at microscope set-up, microchip scans and listening through a stethoscope.
Other activities for youngsters include face painting, a colouring competition with the winner to appear on the practice’s Facebook page and a ‘toxic or not’ board game. There will also be a raffle and some exciting prizes on offer.
Helen Deeley, practice manager at Boundary, said the event was a chance for the team to engage further with its community and give people an insight into the world of veterinary care.
“We value our local community hugely and hope this open day will be a wonderful opportunity for families – both clients and non-clients – to look around and spend an enjoyable few hours participating in activities and learning more about the veterinary world.
“The team hope to see as many people as possible pay us a visit and enjoy spending some time at the practice.”
